Death toll in Karur tragedy rises to 40; probe begins

- The death toll in the stampede on 27th September 2025 at the political rally of actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam chief Vijay in Karur in Tamil Nadu went up to 40.
- Official sources said that 17 of the dead were women and 14 men. Nine were children, five of them girls.
- Justice Aruna Jagadeesan forms the one-member Commission of Inquiry instituted by the State government.
- Chief Minister M.K. Stalin visited the injured as well.
