Unseasonal storms, rain leave 111 dead, 72 injured in Uttar Pradesh

- Over a hundred people were killed across Uttar Pradesh after powerful storms and unseasonal heavy rain pounded the State on 13th and 14th May 2026, uprooting trees and electric poles and damaging houses.
- “Reports of 111 deaths were received from 26 districts. 72 persons were injured, 170 livestock losses and damage to 227 houses have been reported,” the Relief Commissioner’s office said in a statement.
- A video of the extreme weather event circulated in social media showed a man being hurled into the air in Bareilly district during strong winds. The man was taking shelter under a tin shed when the storm reportedly ripped off the structure, throwing both the shed and the man 50 feet into the air before he crashed to the ground with injuries.
