In blunt warning, the U.S. says Peru could lose its sovereignty to China

The Trump administration has raised concerns that China’s growing control over key infrastructure in Peru could undermine the country’s sovereignty.
This warning follows a Peruvian court ruling which reportedly restricted the authority of a local regulator over oversight of Chinese-built mega port, Port of Chancay.
Port of Chancay is located about 80 km north of Lima, in Peru.
