Key six-lane corridor in Maharashtra approved

- The Union Cabinet approved the construction of a six-lane, greenfield, access-controlled Nashik-Solapur-Akkalkot corridor in Maharashtra on Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) mode.
- The 374 km-long road project will be built at a cost of ₹19,142 crore.
- The project will provide connectivity to several cities, including Nashik and Solapur, which will be further connected to Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh.
- It is also proposed to connect the corridor to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near the Vadhawan port interchange; the Agra-Mumbai corridor at Nashik; and the Samruddhi Mahamarg, which connects Mumbai with Nagpur near Nashik.
- The proposed corridor will provide connectivity from the west coast to the east coast, according to a press statement.
- Overall travel time will be lessened from the current 31 hours to nearly 17 hours.
