Death toll rises to 41 as ‘worst floods in 60 years’ wreak havoc in Assam

• The Assam government said the ongoing wave of floods in some eastern districts of the State has been the worst in 60 years, affecting more than 6.5 lakh people and claiming 41 lives in less than a month.
• “The floods have affected 6,53,164 people across 939 villages and crops on 24,897.27 hectares of land,” an Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) spokesperson said.
